CASE REPORT : IMPROVING VISION IN A CONGENITAL NYSTAGMUS PATIENT
Background:
Hundreds of patients suffering from congenital nystagmus have been treated so far with RevitalVision software. 80% of them achieved an average improvement of 2 lines on the visual acuity chart, and in some extreme cases, an improvement of 5 lines was measured.
This case report demonstrates the significance of the improvement on the patient’s quality of life.
The 17.5-year-old patient was referred to us for RevitalVision Nystagmus treatment after he was disqualified from military service due to his visual impairment, which also did not allow him to meet the threshold required to obtain a driver’s license.
The main motivation of the patient for the treatment was to qualify for recruitment to the military and obtain a driver’s license.
The diagnosis:

Slight and irregular head tilt
Wears glasses regularly and sometimes hard contact lenses.

Improvement of one line in the right eye and 2 lines in the left!
In a F.A.C.T sine wave contrast sensitivity test – (Vision Analyzer – Stereo Optical) – improved vision quality by 2 additional spatial frequencies! 110% improvement in his LE and 70% in his RE.
While this is an average improvement of one and a half lines in visual acuity, these are significant lines transitioning from impaired vision to functional vision, opening up a whole world of possibilities for this patient.
The patient felt a significant subjective improvement. Reporting less effort in watching TV, and can sit closer to the screen. He notices the leaves of trees, and he feels he is seeing better in the evening.
In view of the dramatic improvement in the patient’s vision, he has appealed his disqualification from the army and successfully passed the vision test for a driver’s license.
